The Pet Crematorium

This job started as a simple SQL Server database with a Microsoft Access front end and then developed further into a fully integrated web-based system that integrates seamlessly with the client's Sage Line 50 Accounts Package and feeds into Google Calendar.

The system makes use of the Royal Mail Post Code Address file to quickly find customer addresses to help speed up data entry. It was specifically designed so that you can bypass this feature on specific computers to minimise Royal Mail licencing costs.

When the data has been entered the system allows you to trace the pet through the whole process of cremation. It allows the staff at the crematorium to keep a track of things and with the web interface it also allows vets and customers to track the pet over the web. This gives a personalised service to the customer but also cuts costs by limiting the amount of phone calls to the crematorium.

The system has the ability to create appointments autmatically in Google Calendar. This means that a client appointment can be placed in the calendar at the press of a button and all the relevant information for that client including name, address, phone number, pets name and all ID numbers etc will be placed into the shared calendar. This cuts down considerably on data entry and also checks for clashes in the diary.

This particular system works with Google calendar but I have written other similar applications that integrate in the same way with Microsoft Outlook.

This database is fully integrated with the client's website so that my client's customer's can log on and access the information in real time. The website links two branches and two seperate installations of the database. It was developed to integrate seamlessly between these two branches and is smart enough to redirect customers to the correct branch without them being aware that there is even a choice.

The website has a system whereby customer's can place orders for consumables. The orders then go directly into the delivery system so the customer will get their items on the next available delivery round.
